Project Life Inspiration: Organized Desktop Background

The other day I was trying to think of a way to make my desktop more functional and organized. I usually try to organize my files pretty quickly but there always seems to be few things that get left behind for a while. I decided to google "desktop backgrounds to organize icons" and this is what I got:

Definitely NOT my style... I mean, how ugly can we get, right? However, that third image did strike an idea with me... why not make my own beautiful desktop back ground with digital Project Life cards? I used a selection of the Kraft edition journaling and filler cards.

Want to make your own? Here's how:

STEP ONE | In photoshop make a new document the size of your screen (mine was 2560 pixels wide x 1440 pixels high).

STEP TWO | At this point you can leave your background white your change it. I opened some Kraft edition cards and used the Eyedropper Tool to make a matching background.

STEP THREE | Add journaling and filler cards and arrange as needed. I added text to a few to help me organize my icons. On the far right I left a space for my icons that stay on the desktop at all times. To do this I just added a rectangular shape (with the Rectangle Tool) and made it the same color as the background with 89% opacity.

Ta da! Now I feel much more sane about the icons left on my desktop. Let me know if you have any questions.
