Whew! So glad this is finished. I don't know about you but I find it extremely difficult to condense photos so having two holidays in one layout was hard! I did it, but not without a lot of collages and a few extra pages to document the festivities.
Week 52:
Left side:
We celebrated our third Christmas as married people on Christmas Eve Eve. I love that we take the time to have our own little time together before we go off to our families Christmases. The gray box is a picture of my gorgeous newest niece - since I just took the picture from Facebook I didn't feel at liberty to post it here. But trust me, it is probably the best picture of the whole layout, not that I am biased or anything :) Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent at my parent's house. Everytime I look at that picture of my sisters and I it makes me smile.

Right Side:
The two days after Christmas I worked and it snowed. On that Thursday after work we left for MI and stayed with J's parents through Sunday. As I said in my journaling, I love experiencing the different dynamics between our two families. Then for New Year's Eve we had several people from my family over for a small party, it was so fun. I made a delicious Coffee Cream cake from my new PW cookbook - I mean this was the best cake ever. But wow, it was so ugly! The icing was heavy and it pretty much smooshed (yes, that is a word in my vocabulary) the cake and broke off the edges! In the end, though, everyone was won over by the taste so it didn't matter.
Extra Pages:
Here is my solution to too many pictures when you are doing Project Life digitally: extra collage pages! For 2012, I am going to get all my pages printed in a photobook so making inserts just isn't possible. I am so, so, glad that I have done this throughout the year - many photos wouldn't have made it into my album! So, left side is leftovers from my family's Christmas and the right side is from J's family Christmas. (P.S. these 12x12 templates are from the Simple as That blog)
Christmas Decorations:
Our decorations are simple but I really love them so I had to add extra pictures. Love, love how the right page turned out. Yes, our tree is small and tiny but it's so "us" and fits well into an apartment. I don't think I will know what to do if we ever get a big tree!
First + Last Pages:
I redid my first page so that it would better coordinate with the last page. It's a little busy but I really like it. Love that sand picture of our hands. I didn't put much journaling because the first of 2012 is over and writing anything now wouldn't be accurate, so I just put our ages and our address and left it at that.
And here is my last page; I got that "So Long" card free from Cathy Zielske's website. She is awesome! I love that I have a picture of the outside of our apartment so I had to include it (yes, I know it looks like every other apartment in the whole complex ;).
Thanks for stopping by! As always, if you have any questions or want to know what products I used just let me know and I would be happy to answer.
Love your pages! I was wondering how or what you used for the small collage photos in the actual layout? Such as the photo on the "hello decorations" page under the title. I would love to use something like that incorporate more phots that don't have the impact of the larger photos! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite 4x6 collage templates are from Lilypad and you can find them here: http://www.the-lilypad.com/store/4x6-Photo-Collages-No.1.html?page=1
ReplyDeleteI used a template from that set on the decorations page.
